While the internet is an amazing source of knowledge and DIY tutorials, trying to teach yourself a new skill—like gardening—online can be challenging. NaTasha learned that firsthand when she built her first garden, a six-inch raised bed made of treated wood. Overwhelmed with conflicting information on pest control, planting schedules, and spacing rules, she ended up throwing seeds into her beds and hoping for the best.
This frustrating experience inspired her to turn to nature as her guide: how are plants in the wild tended, watered, and fertilized? From there, her gardening journey began in earnest.
31 Eden was birthed from this amazing desire to see the miracle of life in the form of fruit and vegetable plants. We desire to see every home in Fayetteville have a garden and to garden with confidence."
After becoming a garden coach and founding 31 Eden in 2020, NaTasha set out to help her eastern North Carolina community spend their time, energy, and resources more mindfully in sustainable outdoor spaces designed to meet their goals. NaTasha’s team at 31 Eden walks their clients through the entire process, from installation to harvest, to help others on their garden journeys, no matter the size of their garden.
In addition to helping gardeners in her unique planting zone know what to plant when, NaTasha also uses her platform on 31 Eden to promote eating things grown from the earth, publishing plant-focused recipes with “meat on the side.” She hopes to help adults make healthier decisions and to address food insecurities through teaching younger generations the joy of watching their food grow from seedling to something nutritious they can eat.
