I've been a big fan of Jen Hansard ever since I stumbled upon her on the internet years ago.
Jen is the co-founder of Simple Green Smoothes, a plant-powered brand that empowers millions of women to live a healthier lifestyle by integrating smoothies into their diet.
Jen is also the best-selling author of Simple Green Smoothies and Simple Green Meals.
She leads plant-based workshops and adventure retreats across the country and blogs at Simplegreensmoothies.com.
Nicole’s passion for kitchen gardening is inspiring yet also realistic. I can now see the potential for my own dingy yard to become a garden that fits my busy lifestyle and nourishes my family.
Here's the non-published version of Jen's review:
"I just browsed through your book and am SOOOO excited for it to come out. I feel like you're gonna explode and be like the next Jungalow."
"Eeeek!!!!"
My first exposure to Jen and her mission was with learning to create my own green smoothies. I was growing loads of kale and spinach in my own kitchen garden but hadn't mastered the art of making a delicious smoothie with all that green.
Jen knows the secret to making something so delicious from dark leafy greens that even my kids drink them up. Smoothies have become my favorite favorite (did I say 'favorite") way to enjoy fresh garden kale and spinach.
Here's Jen Hansard's official review of Kitchen Garden Revival--you'll see it right on the front page of my book!

What I love about Jen's work is that she makes plant-based eating accessible for everyday busy people like us.
Her recipes don't take long to create and her message empowers us all to take steps toward filling up on the good stuff but not setting ridiculous limitations or frustrating expectations on ourselves. Every time I've taken one of her plant-powered challenges, I feel reconnected to my body, energized in a new way, and more inspired to care for my body with loads and loads and loads of delicious plants.
One thing I love is that Jen has a seasonal focus to her recipes, so her recipes point us toward doing the big three things I talk about often at Gardenary:
Eating seasonally
Shopping locally
Growing naturally
Jen even gardens in her own backyard and is an influential leader when it comes to inspiring women everywhere to fill up on the good stuff.
It was a treat to have one of my heroes read and review Kitchen Garden Revival. Our books and missions go hand in hand with one another.
Once you're growing a kitchen garden, you're going to want smoothie and simple green recipes to use up all that garden goodness. And when you're eating and drinking all that green goodness, you're going to want a kitchen garden to supplement all that green you're needing to buy at the store.
See what I mean?
A huge thanks to Jen for reviewing my book, Kitchen Garden Revival and for being such a leader in the Good Food Movement.
I'm hoping we get to hang out in the garden and make some simple green meals from our harvests together one day soon!
