Our Paris Arch Trellis Brings Instant Sophistication to Any Garden Space
Maybe I spend too much time in the garden, but the elegant latticework on this trellis features the kind of diamonds I want for my anniversary. That's right. Diamonds that are welded together and can be used to support my favorite climbing plants.
The Paris Arch Trellis is perfect for gardens that have a traditional, farmhouse, or more European feel, but really, it can be used in any kitchen garden. You can span two garden beds, form an inviting entrance into your garden space, or create a beautiful backdrop for a special event. Quality trellises like this one look stunning whether they're covered in plant mass or bare.
If you've purchased the Paris Arch Trellis, you can rest assured it'll look incredible in your garden. If you're considering whether this trellis is right for your space, check the dimensions carefully to make sure it'll fit as intended. Paris Arch Trellis Material
Metal provides the sturdiest structural support for your climbing plants in the garden. It's also the most durable option of the garden trellis materials available.
The Paris Arch Trellis is made of solid steel with a black powder coating for weather resistance. These pieces are made to last and be enjoyed in your garden for decades to come.
Dimensions of the Paris Arch Trellis
TRELLIS HEIGHT
This trellis measures 79" (6 feet 7 inches) tall. Even if you bury the base of the trellis about one foot deep inside your raised beds, you'll still have plenty of vertical space to grow indeterminate vines like tomatoes, pole beans, and cucumbers up each side.
TRELLIS WIDTH
The base measures 60.5" (just about 5 feet) wide. If you plant to span this trellis from one raised bed to another, your pathway should be under 5 feet wide. You can still span a pathway that's narrower than 4.5 feet if you push the trellis deeper into the interior of each bed instead of having it right on the outer edge. (See picture below.)
TRELLIS DEPTH
From front to back, this trellis measures 20.5" (a little over 1.5 feet). This measurement is important because this is how much space you have to plant vining plants along the base.
Trellis Weight
The trellis parts weigh about 32 lbs.

This trellis can ship across the continental US and arrives in one box. Thanks to its pocket-style of connection, you don't need any tools for assembly. One person should be able to put this trellis together in under 30 minutes.
Assembling the Paris Trellis is pretty easy and straightforward, but here are a couple tips to make the process go smoothly:
- Grab a partner to help lift the trellis once it's assembled.
- Assemble the trellis as close to its permanent location as possible. Once it's all put together, it'll be difficult to move.
- Assemble the trellis on its side on a soft surface to avoid scratching the finish. I typically assemble trellises on the grass right next to my kitchen garden.
How to Assemble the Paris Arch Trellis
Step One to Assemble the Paris Arch Trellis
Carefully unpack all parts from the box on a clean and level surface; check that you have everything using the list below or the component list on the product instructions.
Your Paris Arch Trellis kit should come with the following parts:
- 2 top frame pieces (left and right)
- 1 top frame piece (center)
- 2 side frame pieces (left and right) labeled A
- 2 side frame pieces (left and right) labeled B
- 2 side frame pieces (left and right) labeled C
- 4 rods/ground spikes
In total, there should be nine large pieces that you'll fit together to assemble this trellis.
Step Two to Assemble the Paris Arch Trellis
You'll begin assembly with the top of the trellis. Grab the three pieces that form the top section (two top frames with L-shaped edges and the center top frame).
You'll notice that each end is either a smaller tube or an open pocket. The tubes fit into the pockets for easy assembly. This is what gives the trellis a seamless appearance once assembled.
Insert the tubes for each side top frame piece into the center top frame, as shown below.
Step Three to Assemble the Paris Arch Trellis
Grab the six pieces that make up the sides of the trellis. Insert one piece marked C into B, then B into A. The end of A should slide into the base of one top frame piece.
Repeat for the other side so that you have both sides of the trellis attached to the top.
Step Four to Assemble the Paris Arch Trellis
Grab a buddy to help you lift the assembled trellis to its upright position.
How to Install the Paris Arch Trellis
When you're installing a large trellis that will have to support a lot of plant mass, it's critical to take the time to fully secure it. How big of a bummer would it be to step outside after a storm and see your beautiful trellis overturned and your plants crushed?
Your arch trellis kit comes with four long ground spikes that are designed to be buried to add stability for the trellis (see picture below). Drive these stakes into the ground if your trellis is not going in a raised bed. Your trellis won't have heavy soil around its base holding it in place, so using these ground spikes is really important.
If, instead, your trellis is going in a raised bed, the soil in the bed can help secure it. I recommend installing this trellis before you add soil to the raised garden bed, if that's still possible. For a raised bed that's less than a foot tall, I recommend digging into the ground below about 4 to 6 inches and then securing the trellis using the ground spikes. That way, your trellis will be super stable.
If you're installing this trellis in a raised bed that's already filled with soil, dig out the soil at least 1 foot down in the area where the base will go. Place the trellis inside (use the spikes if possible) and backfill with soil all the way to the top of the bed.
Celebrate!
Your Paris Arch Trellis is now assembled and installed!
Here are a few ideas for what you can grow on your beautiful arch trellis:
IN THE COOL SEASON:
Plant your trellis with sugar snap peas, fava beans, or snow peas, and when the weather warms a bit more, plant your trellis with runner beans.
IN THE WARM SEASON:
Plant your arch with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, or pole beans. Flower options include climbing nasturtium, passion vine, and hyacinth bean.
IN THE HOT SEASON:
Plant your arch trellis with tomatillos, asparagus beans, Armenian cucumbers, or luffa gourds. For flowers, try passion vine and coral vine.
