Create a Vision Board for This Year's Kitchen Garden
A vision board is a powerful way to keep yourself motivated, excited, and focused as you move through the day in and day out of a busy schedule.
Studies have proven that when we have visual reminders placed in front of us on a regular basis, we're much more likely to keep new habits, conquer difficult goals, and make our plans turn into a reality.
A Vision Board can be used for all sorts of goal setting from relationships to finances to bucket lists.
And a Vision Board is a perfect way to make your intentions and plans clear for the New Year.
For this Vision Board exercise, I've created a few templates you can use to create your own Kitchen Garden Vision Board.
If you don't have a kitchen garden yet, you can use this exercise to collect images from some of your favorite kitchen garden designs and setups. And if you already have a kitchen garden set up, this is a great time to focus on what plants and projects you'll go after throughout the year ahead.
I've included a lot of my favorite Gardenary garden designs and elements that you can screenshot or copy to use for your own Kitchen Garden Vision Board below. I've broken them into categories that you can use to get specific about your dreams and visions for your own garden.
The first section of the Vision Board includes photos of the big structures of the kitchen garden like raised beds and trellises, and the second section includes plants and harvests.
Raised Beds
Border Garden Raised Beds
The border garden is a garden positioned along the border of your landscape or against a structure like a fence, a driveway, or a house. It's perfect for fitting a garden just about anywhere.

Four Garden Classic Raised Beds
If you have a space that’s square, or nearly square, in shape and at least 15 feet wide, a four-garden classic is a great option. Aesthetically speaking, four gardens are absolute perfection in terms of kitchen garden design.

Formal Potager
If your landscape allows for a total garden area that’s more than 20' wide and long, you have space to create a Formal Potager. Potagers include L-shaped raised beds that form a sort of enclosure inside.
Trellises
Panel Trellises
Panel trellises are ideal for gardens positioned alongside structures like fences. They also work well in the middle of wide raised beds.
Obelisk Trellises
Obelisk trellises are perfect for growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and so much more. Stick a panel trellis anywhere along your raised bed to instantly double your total available growing space.
Arch Trellises
Arch trellises can connect two raised beds and create grand entryways to your garden space.
Borders
Garden Border
You can use existing borders like driveways to delineate your garden space. Or you can add a beautiful garden border with stones, bricks, or metal edging. Stone borders provide an elegant line to denote the garden space and keep grass and weeds away. Metal edging is easy to install and keeps the space looking nice and tidy.
Native Plant Gardens
Trees
You can grow everything from bay laurel to lemon trees in your kitchen garden space, depending on your climate.
